Wine4U, LLC, founded by Mary Beth Giacomo (who goes by Beth), has evolved from a small online wine club launched during the pandemic into a thriving boutique wine shop with a tasting room in Sandpoint, Idaho. After years of working as a wine distributor, Beth decided to pursue her dream of starting a wine club when the pandemic shifted her career path. In December 2020, she introduced her first wine club, offering two bottles of carefully selected wine each month— not found in local grocery stores. Wine4U has grown to offer various club levels, including Tier 1 at $40 and Tier 2 at $70, with additional quarterly options for bubbly and library wines at $99.
“I have been in the business for many years,” Beth explains, “and people knew me or knew of my reputation as the 'Wine Lady.'” This reputation helped grow her business from 21 members to over 65. Beth’s expertise lies in finding exceptional varietal wines from lesser-known regions and offering her customers a new way to experience wine. Her deep knowledge and ability to connect with customers’ tastes earned her the title of “Wine Intuitive,” her intuitive ability to find the right wine for each customer is one of the hallmarks of her service.
Beth’s wine club isn’t the only unique offering at Wine4U. “I currently host a monthly wine tasting on the third Monday of every month at Baxter’s Backdoor,” she shares. These tastings have become a popular local event, drawing regular attendees who enjoy discovering new wines through wine education and tastings. The event has a loyal following, anywhere from 30 to 45 participants. Beth also offers custom wine gift baskets, ranging from $60 to $400, with shipping options available, and specializes in creating personalized selections for every occasion.
In June 2024, Beth expanded Wine4U by opening a brick-and-mortar location, which includes a boutique wine shop and a four-person tasting room. While the shop may be small, its impact is significant. “I didn’t want to be downtown or in a heavy foot traffic location,” Beth explains, “so this space offers a quiet retreat where customers can explore wines and enjoy a glass in the tasting room.” Customers can peruse the carefully curated selection of wines and gourmet food items or reserve the tasting room by appointment for small private events.
Beth’s vision for Wine4U, a boutique wine shop, continues to evolve. She recently announced an exciting new venture—a 12-day wine tour to Northern Italy in May 2025, which is almost sold out. “I am hosting the trip with Reggie Wines from Seattle,” Beth says, adding that details for a 2025 France trip will soon be released. As Wine4U grows, Beth’s mission remains: to help customers discover wines they will love and bring excitement to every glass.
