Born and raised in Sandpoint, Dr. Cameron VanDenBerg, a Palmer graduate and former Gonstead president, made the decision to move back to the area, after obtaining his doctorate degree, to serve his hometown community. Today, he is the proud owner of Intermountain Wellness, alongside co-owner Rylie Anderson, where they and their team share their passion for whole-body healing with each patient they serve.

Q. You opened Intermountain Family Chiropractic in 2019 and recently rebranded to Intermountain Wellness. Why the change?

A. While obtaining my doctorate degree, we learned that chiropractic, nutrition, rehab/exercise therapy and massage can all play roles in ridding/reducing inflammation in the body, and by adding a "whole body" approach to care, patients can hold adjustments better and see a true benefit in day-to-day life. We know the spine is so important and that it controls and regulates everything in the human body. Chiropractic philosophy states that subluxations in the spine can be caused by the 3 Ts (Thoughts, Traumas and Toxins). Our additional forms of care we have added help to address the various "Ts/causes of subluxations," and we wanted our name to reflect our whole-body approach to wellness.

Q. What inspired you to pursue this career path and use your knowledge to help others?

A. I started receiving chiropractic care at 11 years old and grew up playing sports at an early age. I have always had a love for health and decided to go into the chiropractic profession in hopes of helping others the way that chiropractic helped me.

Q. Please describe the services you now provide through Intermountain Wellness?

A. The services currently offered at Intermountain Wellness include: Individualized Gonstead Chiropractic Care, Thorough Blood Analysis, Functional Nutrition/Weight Loss Program, Sports Rehab/Exercise Therapy, Neuropathy Treatment Program, and Massage Therapy.I specialize in Gonstead technique, pediatric care, and I’m certified by the International Board of Extremity Chiropractors.

Gonstead chiropractic is the most detailed and analytical technique of care. Out of approximately 70,000 chiropractors in the US, only around 2,000 of them specialize in Gonstead technique. Of those, less than five reside in the state of Idaho. What sets Gonstead apart from other doctors of chiropractic is the thorough analysis performed on each patient every visit, and doctors can work to identify the specific joints that need adjusted/treated. Extremity adjustments such as wrists, knees, hips, ankles, elbows, shoulders, etc. are very helpful for many conditions as well. Our sports therapy/rehab services offered at Intermountain Wellness are so beneficial to our patients. Each patient performs a functional movement screening to assess body posture, muscle imbalances, specific movements/how you use your body to help determine what is tight and what needs strengthened. Each exercise or stretch is then tailored to that patient to improve their overall wellness, spine health and help them to move better overall. We also offer one-on-one personalized exercises with the guidance of our rehab specialist, and patients also have the option to learn these exercises and do them in the comfort of their own home.

Our partner stretching is one of our most popular offerings and helps to increase mobility and decrease pain. Patients love to lay there and be stretched out, similar to a stretch lab, and be properly shown how to stretch at home.

We love offering massage therapy at our clinic as another modality of care to benefit patients. We currently have a fantastic massage therapist on staff and would love to hire more to have a fully staffed massage schedule to accommodate all of the patients in need.I have my master’s degree in nutrition, and I am joined by our on-staff nutritionist who specializes in functional and integrative nutrition.

Our program includes a full blood panel along with detailed blood analysis that targets optional ranges of health, which allows for a more preventative approach to care instead of reactive. The panel can also test for things such as thyroid health, hormone levels, food sensitivity, inflammatory markers, gene testing and so much more! Our nutritionist then builds your nutrition/weight loss plan around the results of your blood and offers specialized meal plans and supplements tailored to your goals. The weight loss program utilizes tools such as natural drops and supplements to help your body in each phase of care, along with weekly in person meetings! We are with you every step of the way to help achieve your goals!

Q. Can you share a bit about the Neuropathy Center of Idaho within Intermountain Wellness?

A. Neuropathy Center of Idaho offers a neuropathy program that has been very successful! The program is utilized by thousands of doctors across the US to address the actual causes of neuropathy and help to reverse its effects. Our all-natural, noninvasive approach to care helps to heal the environment of the nerves, and patients have found a significant decrease in pain, numbness, and overall discomfort. We absolutely love helping neuropathy patients gain back quality of life and work toward becoming pain free!

Q. What sets Intermountain Wellness apart from others who are in the similar field?

A. What sets us apart is thoroughness! We believe in quality over quantity!

Q. What do you enjoy most about having like-minded individuals and businesses in the community who also focus on natural healing in their own fields of expertise?

A. We love building referral relationships with other business owners and growing and learning together to help best serve the community.

Q. What is most rewarding to you about the work you do?

A. Helping people to gain their quality of life back! Truly making a difference in people's lives and building friendships with so many patients. I love specializing in pediatric care and treating the whole family! One of the most cherished things in the office is getting the privilege of adjusting a mom throughout her entire pregnancy and then getting to meet and adjust the babies post birth!

Q. What are your hopes for the future of Intermountain Wellness?

A. We look forward to continuing to grow. And we are excited to add more modalities to benefit patients and expand our wellness center.

Q. When not serving your patients, how do you like to spend your time?

A. Rylie and I love being on the lake, snowboarding, golfing, and spending time with friends and family.
