Bringing the Community Together through Art

POAC hosts 50th annual Arts & Crafts Fair August 13 and 14 By Jillian Chandler

Art In Sandpoint

Everywhere you turn, there’s no doubt that Sandpoint has a flourishing arts scene. From the galleries, to the murals, to the live music and more—along with that artsy vibe so many residents exhibit—Sandpoint continues to be a haven for artists in all forms.

Each summer, the Pend Oreille Arts Council presents the annual Arts & Crafts Fair—this year’s event taking place Saturday, August 13, and Sunday, August 14. During this two-day event held at 2nd Avenue and Main Street in downtown Sandpoint, the local community and visitors to town are treated to artist booths, food vendors, and a youth art arena. Take the opportunity to explore artist exhibits featuring ceramics, fiber, glass, jewelry, home goods, metal, paintings and drawings, photography, wood, and foods. (You can view the entire list of this year's participating vendors online at ArtinSandpoint.org/arts-crafts-fair.)

All proceeds go directly to support POAC's programs in visual and performing arts and art education for the benefit of the community. Hours are 9am to 5pm Saturday and 9am to 4pm Sunday. Visit ArtinSandpoint.org for additional details or artist vendor application.

If you're looking for another opportunity to take in the arts this summer, POAC's 45th annual ArtWalk kicked off June 17 and continues through September 2. This free city-wide event gives artist members and other local artists the chance to exhibit their work while encouraging the community to explore it. Local artisans, galleries and business owners throughout the downtown corridor work in collaboration to showcase all that our unique town has to offer. A venue list of participating ArtWalk venues—more than two dozen of them—can be found at ArtinSandpoint.org/artwalk.

It’s time to celebrate the arts in Sandpoint this summer!
